The girls’ cross country team from Pella won their first team trophy in three years Monday at the South Tama Invitational. In doing so, four athletes earned individual medals, and all seven varsity athletes finished in the top 30. Pella finished with 63 points, #5 ranked Grinnell was second with 71 points, BCLUW was third with 77 points, and top ranked 1A North Tama took fourth with 79 points.

“We had a tremendous pack today,” said Coach Cutler. “Other teams had individual runners who may have stood out a bit more than we did, but #1 through #7 we were the strongest team. We’re proud of the fact that we have a deep team. Winning the JV race in addition to the Varsity displays that fact.”nn

In the JV race Pella placed 8 girls in the top 12 finishers. Among them were Morgan Hiemstra (1st), Sophie Metcalf (2nd), Amanda Dunkin (5th), Kate Williamson (7th), and Chloe Mathonet-VanderWell (8th).
